Launch of the Peoples’ Progressive Agenda for India

Constitution Club of India

In order to pose an inspiring and aspirational vision for India, Samruddha Bharat worked in close collaboration with 12 political parties in preparing the Peoples’ Progressive Agenda for India, which was launched on February 12, 2019. This blueprint for an alliance of equity also includes inputs from numerous jan sunwais (citizen dialogues) that SBF conducted, CSO led initiatives like “Reclaiming the Republic” and the Common Minimum Programme of 2004. -

Participants: Representatives of 11 political parties and numerous eminent citizens were present at this launch.

The policymakers present at the launch included Shri Sharad Yadav (former Chairperson of the National Democratic Alliance, and President of the LJD); Shri Sitaram Yechury (Member of Parliament & General Secretary of the CPI-M); Shri Digvijay Singh (Member of Parliament & INC); Ms. Kanimozhi (Member of Parliament & DMK); Prof. Rajeev Gowda (Member of Parliament, & Convenor of Manifesto Committee of the INC); Prof. Manoj Jha (Member of Parliament & National Spokesperson of the RJD); Shri Raju Shetti (Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha & President of Swabhimani Shetkari Sangh); Shri D Raja (Member of Parliament & National Secretary of the CPI); Shri Jayant Chaudhary (former Member of Parliament & Vice President of the RLD); Smt. Supriya Sule (Member of Parliament & NCP); Shri Sanjay Singh (Member of Parliament & Spokesperson of AAP); Shri KTS Tulsi (Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha) and others.

Some of the eminent citizens present at the launch included Prof. Mridula Mukherjee; Dr. Syeda Hameed; Prof. Aditya Mukherjee; Ms. Farah Naqvi; Shri Nikhil Dey; Prof. Jayati Ghosh; Ms. Anjali Bharadwaj; Shri VM Singh; Shri Amitabh Behar; Shri Sandeep Chachra etc.

Outcomes: Unlike the Manifesto Inputs submitted by Samruddha Bharat to various parties, the Peoples’ Progressive Agenda only highlights those principles and issues on which there is a broad multi-party consensus. Given over 12 parties were actively involved in this nine month long drafting process, it is hoped this document will be considered as ablueprint for a common vision for India.
